We would very much like to take the good without the bad, but that's just impossible. The good is born from the bad, and it lives with it always. In us as much as outside of us. When we accept this, we have a much deeper peace with regard to how things are, the violent universe we find ourselves in. We quickly judge events and put what we experience into categories in which they don't fit. We often fail to see how the conditions of these events are interrelated and that due to this interrelation the conditions co-create each other. Because of this, we try to force situations that give us conditions so we like while driving away anything we don't. This is also impossible. The truth is we have to take the bad with the good and take things as they come. The bad brings as much good as the good, because the devil is a teacher in disguise, God in a dark cloak. Anything bad in our lives has the potential to teach us something, and it will teach us whether or not we want it to. If we are wise enough we can see what it is and why it is that we are faced with what we are. This gives us the strength to face it directly and doggedly so that we may face it down. Having this attitude is the best we can do, whether or not we succeed.
I also do not believe that you can separate the good from the bad into separate experiences. I believe they are both the same experience as all experiences are actually One. I do not believe that anything is in fact separate. What we see as bad isn't really bad and the good isn't really good in the way we imagine it is. The finish line of success is equivalent to the starting point in distress. What we see as separate experiences, countless moments in a linear direction of time are states of mind and not in fact reality. Time in such a fashion is a a state of mind, a rather narrow one. The idea of their being multiple points in time and a distinct past, present a future is a myth. All of time, all moments, all dimensions, all possibilities are in fact no separate, but one singular expression, just as all of space is not full of separate things, but is actually One expression of the same thing. Any experience of differences is from a position of ignorance of the singularity and non-duality of existence. There is no past and their is no future, there is even no present as we know it. The present we imagine is full of independent things. These independent things do not exist. Our senses tell us they do, but they are wrong. We have no senses, we have no separate self. The world we perceive does not exist.
All times, all places, all things, One.
The only thing that is real is our true nature. This is our dharma body and our dharma life that we see when are kissed by the Divine. This is truly where we are at all time, and we see it without knowing it.
It is always where we are, we rarely look to see where we are, so we never see who we are, or what is in fact here.
